KRISTOPHER SMALL

Academic Excellence Chairperson

Kristopher Small is a Graduating Senior, majoring in Electrical Engineering at the Illustrious Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. He was born in Oklahoma, but has been raised in Jacksonville, Florida practically his whole life (DUVVVVALLLLLLLL)! Kristopher is heavily involved in organizations on campus, through Student Government Association’s Men’s Caucus, Student Recruitment Team, Hampton Man Initiative, Hampton
University’s Chapter of Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers, and of course, NSBE. He has been involved with NSBE since his freshman year, as a way of connecting himself with people who have the same goals and mindset like him. Eager to contribute to the NSBE mission statement, he became Hampton University’s Mr. NSBE during his sophomore year. Wanting to make a greater impact throughout the collegiate chapter, he became the President during his junior year, leading the chapter to both the Regional and National Small Chapter-of-the-Year Awards. This year, Kristopher will be serving as the Region II Academic Excellence Chair. In his free time, he likes reading, listening to music, playing, and watching sports, and hanging out with friends. After graduation, Kristopher is going to work for the Department of Defense, with greater aspirations of becoming a NASA astronaut. He is honored to be chosen for this position and is ready to help the region through academics.

LAUREN SMITH

T.O.R.C.H. Chairperson

Lauren Smith is a junior at the University of Delaware (UDel), majoring in biomedical engineering. Lauren was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in New Jersey. She has been involved in NSBE since her freshman year of college. Her sophomore year, she was elected T.O.R.C.H. Chair of the UDel NSBE chapter. On campus, Lauren is involved in the Resident Student Association, Sisters on the Move, Resources to Inspire Successful Engineers (RISE), Spring into Success Ambassador, and undergraduate research. In her free time, she likes to play tennis, dance, and binge a good TV show. This term Lauren will be serving as the Region II T.O.R.C.H. Chairperson.
Her goal is to increase the overall understanding of technical outreach and reach as many new people with the joy of the STEM field. Lauren is incredibly passionate and ready to serve the Model Region.
